Below are the certification marks related to each brand of Inter-States Paper:
| Green Label for Forests and the Environment
Gmund Eco Paper
This seal means that the paper used by Gmund meets its own comprehensive sustainability standards, which include indicators for resource conservation, environmental protection, energy efficiency and production transparency, signalling that the paper is produced in a highly sustainable manner.
Lakepaper Eco Paper
Similar to Gmund, this label is used for Lakepaper products to certify that their paper meets the requirements of sustainable manufacturing, such as low carbon emissions, energy efficiency, high recycled content or responsible sourcing of raw materials, and is a guarantee of quality for Germany's premium paper mills.
Blue Angel Environmental Label
One of the world's earliest eco-labels requires products to have a lower environmental load throughout their life cycle, such as using recycled materials, reducing hazardous substances, and saving energy.
Green Label
Emphasis is placed on products that meet environmental protection requirements during production and use, such as reducing toxicity, saving energy, saving water or reducing resource consumption.
Cradle to Cradle C2C Certification
Evaluating products based on the concept of circular economy, they perform well in terms of material health, reusability, energy and carbon management, water resources and social responsibility, and can be safely recycled and reused.
EU Ecolabel
Established by the European Commission in 1992, the EU Ecolabel is one of the most credible, multinational environmental certifications in Europe. Its aim is to promote products with high quality and low environmental impact and to help consumers identify more sustainable choices.
100% Renewable energy
It indicates that the product is manufactured using electricity generated exclusively from renewable energy sources, such as wind, water or solar power. The logo symbolises that the manufacturing process has minimised carbon emissions, in line with the global trend towards low-carbon and sustainable manufacturing.
≥80% OK Biobased
This seal means that at least 80% of the product's raw materials come from renewable, bio-based sources (e.g. plant fibres, natural materials, etc.). A higher percentage of biobased materials indicates a lower reliance on fossil resources and a smaller environmental footprint, making it suitable for brands that seek to recycle materials in a sustainable manner.
Carbon Black Free
This symbol indicates that no Carbon Black pigment is used in the material or ink, which enhances recyclability and avoids the optical classification barrier caused by Carbon Black, making the product more in line with the needs of the recycling economy.
Elemental Chlorine Free
This label applies to a number of paper mills and has the same meaning as above: no elemental chlorine is used to bleach the pulp, which helps to reduce pollution and water loading, and is one of the basic indicators of modern environmentally friendly paper.
Acid-Free
The paper is made in a neutral or weakly alkaline way to reduce the risk of oxidation and yellowing, making the paper more durable and resistant to ageing, suitable for long-term storage and environmentally safe.
Post Consumer Fiber
It symbolises that the pulp treatment does not use elemental chlorine, reducing the emission of harmful substances such as dioxin and enhancing the eco-friendliness of the product.
Austria Eco Energy
It represents a product or manufacturing process that meets Austrian requirements for energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies.
Symbolises a sustainable process that uses less energy and reduces carbon emissions.
Green Range
Indicates that a product is made with materials and technologies that have a low environmental footprint and are energy-efficient, non-toxic or recyclable sustainable options.
Suitable for brands and companies that take environmental responsibility seriously.
SmartWay
SmartWay is one of the world's most credible green transport programmes, run by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Achieving the SmartWay label means that companies are reducing their transport carbon footprint through more energy-efficient logistics, fleet management and fuel reduction technologies. The label is about ensuring a more efficient supply chain from manufacturing to distribution with a reduced environmental impact.
| Renewable and Recyclable Green Label
>50% Recycled
Indicates that the paper contains at least 50% of recycled content from recycled paper, industrial waste paper or post-consumer recycled paper products. The label emphasises products that reduce the demand for virgin wood pulp, reduce deforestation and carbon emissions, and promote recycling.
Recycled Pulp 70%
This means that the product uses 70% recycled pulp content, which is mostly sourced from recycled paper. This ratio means that the product is more environmentally friendly in terms of raw material sourcing, and can significantly reduce energy consumption, water consumption and carbon emissions in the manufacturing process, which is a symbol of sustainability for a high proportion of recycled paper.
Cotton Fiber 80%
This label indicates that the paper contains 80% natural cotton fibre, which is mostly derived from cotton seed fluff or textile residue. Cotton fibre is soft, durable and tactile, and is commonly used in fine art papers, business card papers and high-end publications. The use of natural fibres also reduces reliance on wood pulp.
100% Recycled
This label means that the paper is completely recycled from 100% and does not contain any virgin pulp. It is one of the most sustainable paper choices for organisations looking to reduce their carbon footprint and consumption of forest resources. Commonly used in corporate sustainability reports, eco-prints and circular economy materials.
100% Cotton
It means that the paper is made entirely from natural cotton fibres and does not contain wood pulp. Known for its high strength fibres, cotton paper has excellent durability, acid resistance and a warm handfeel, making it suitable for art printing, printmaking, certificates and long-term preservation. Its natural origin also emphasises its renewable nature.
WMU OCC-E
Certification by Western Michigan University confirms that the product is highly recyclable in the recycling system and is a fibre material that can be effectively processed by the paper industry.
CEPI
Developed by CEPI, it evaluates a product's ease of handling in the recycled paper process by "checking the paper's recycling compatibility". Passing the CEPI recycling certification means that the paper can be successfully reused in European standard recycling systems with high recovery rates and material recyclability.
PEFC Certification
PEFC is one of the world's largest forest certification systems, ensuring that wood and paper are sourced from responsibly managed forests. Products holding this label demonstrate that their raw materials come from legal and sustainable sources and support forest conservation, biodiversity and the social well-being of forest communities.
40% Post-Consumer Waste
This label indicates that the paper contains at least 40% of "post-consumer recovered fibre (PCW)", which is sourced from recycled paper used by people or enterprises, such as document paper, booklet paper, etc. The use of PCW fibre can effectively reduce the burden of waste paper disposal, and provide greater environmental benefits in terms of carbon reduction and resource recycling.
Global Recycling Standard
GRS (Global Recycled Standard) is an international recycled material certification developed by Textile Exchange for products containing recycled fibres or recycled content. It ensures that products contain traceable recycled materials and meet international environmental and responsible production standards.
PAP 21
The representative products are made of paper, which can be sorted and reused according to the general paper recycling system to support resource recycling.
PAP 22
The representative paper product is a general recyclable paper, which can be put into recycling together with most of the paper materials to facilitate paper recycling.
Plastic Free
Indicates that the product or packaging is completely free of plastic ingredients, avoiding plastic pollution and enhancing overall environmental friendliness.
Recyclable
Indicates that the product or packaging material can enter the standard recycling process and be reprocessed into recycled material, reducing waste generation.
Biodegradable
It means that the product can be decomposed by microorganisms in the natural environment, reducing long-term residue and helping to reduce the ecological impact of waste.
SCB Group
The product's carbon emissions have been offset through the SCB Group's certification programme, which supports international carbon reduction programmes, forest protection and climate sustainability.
Carbon Neutral / Climate Commitment
It means that the product has been verified for carbon emissions, and the overall emissions are net zero through carbon reduction or offsetting, in line with sustainability and climate action standards.
| Green Label for Agricultural Residues
15% Agro Residues
The use of agricultural by-products (such as stem leaves or processing residues) accounts for 15% of the paper fibre source, effectively reducing reliance on virgin wood pulp.
25% Leather Residues
The paper contains 25% of recycled leather processing residue, which enables upcycling of waste materials and brings a unique sense of character.
Compostable
The product can be broken down by microorganisms into harmless substances under natural or composting conditions, reducing the long-term retention of waste materials.
25% Textile Waste Upcycled
This label means that the paper contains at least 25% of fibres recycled from textile industry residues or fabric scraps. Upcycling not only reduces the amount of waste fibre going into landfill, but also gives the paper a unique fibre texture and higher environmental value.
Non-GMO
Processes and ingredients are free from GMO sources, ensuring natural, safe and environmentally friendly products.

Green Purchasing Law
Japan’s Green Purchasing Law (グリーン購入法) is a regulation established by the Japanese government to promote environmentally friendly procurement. It requires government agencies to prioritize purchasing products with lower environmental impact, such as recycled paper, energy-efficient equipment, and eco-friendly materials, in order to encourage the development of green products and build sustainable supply chains.
FDA Approved
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration safety requirements for food contact materials to ensure that no harmful ingredients are released under normal use.
Commonly used in food packaging materials, lunch boxes, cup sleeves and other products in direct contact with food.
Fingerprint Protect
The surface is treated with anti-fingerprint coating, which can significantly reduce the adhesion of fingerprints and keep the appearance clean and clear.
Particularly suitable for photo albums, packaging boxes, high-level printed materials and other applications where texture is important.
ISEGA Certified
Certified by the ISEGA laboratory in Germany as safe for contact with dry or moist foodstuffs.
Commonly used in food packaging, container linings and printed materials involving food.
RoHS Compliant
Complies with RoHS standards limiting lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and other hazardous substances.

HP Indigo Certified
This label indicates that the paper has passed the compatibility test for HP Indigo digital printers and has good inking and colour rendering qualities.
It maintains stable output in high-speed, short-run and customised production, making it an ideal paper for high-quality digital printing.
Dry toner suitable
Suitable for both toner and laser printing equipment, the representative paper withstands high temperature fixing and keeps text and images sharp and free of dust.
